Remember that we have something to fight for, and it will always triumph
This book is much too long for the story it is trying to tell. I felt like giving up several times and I can barely remember what happened.

I give Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas three out of five hearts, but it is more a two and a half hearts instead of four. I wasn’t super happy with this book, it was much too long for what it was and even though the ending was satisfying it, all it really was about was that one final war, from different places and the different characters’ point of view.
Speaking of the ending I felt like it was very much what I call a Lord of the Rings ending, it took almost four chapters to round things off and every single character got its own ending. Even though it is pretty satisfying to know what each of them do after the story, but it also takes a lot of time before the book is actually done. So the time between the story being done and the book being done is extremely long and very annoying.
The characters are each have their own arc and again these are very good. Each of the main groups have their own big storylines and they work well together. But I had expected them to meet up much earlier in the book and that didn’t happen, so it felt very odd.
I have to say this book is a typical Sarah J. Maas book. So if you don’t like her writing, don’t bother reading it. Looking back on the entire series now I can see all its flaws and that maybe they aren’t as good as I thought they were in the beginning. I do feel like this entire story could have been told in about three to four books, not seven. There was a lot of sex and romance in the series overall but also in this book and I am starting to feel that especially the sex part is very inappropriate for a young adult series.
I am hoping that now that Sarah is done with Throne of Glass and nearly with A Court of Thorns and Roses, she moves away from the fae because I am done with them. I will still read the ACoTaR books as they come out, but anything else by her that is about the fae I am probably not going to read anymore.
