Book Review: Ten Thousand Skies Above You by Claudia Gray

The multiverse is infinite

I enjoyed moving along in the Firebird universe. I liked Ten Thousand Skies Above You very well, I just wished for a few changes that would have made it much better.

Synopsis

Ever since she used the Firebird, her parents’ invention, to cross into alternate dimensions, Marguerite has caught the attention of enemies who will do anything to force her into helping them dominate the multiverse—even hurting the people she loves. She resists until her boyfriend, Paul, is attacked and his consciousness scattered across multiple dimensions.

Marguerite has no choice but to search for each splinter of Paul’s soul. The hunt sends her racing through a war-torn San Francisco, the criminal underworld of New York City, and a glittering Paris where another Marguerite hides a shocking secret. Each world brings Marguerite one step closer to rescuing Paul. But with each trial she faces, she begins to question the destiny she thought they shared.

I give Ten Thousand Skies Above You by Claudia Gray four out of five hearts because I really enjoyed reading it and immediately wanted to read the last book in the series.

The book starts a little bit after the first book, Marguerite has more experience with the Firebird and the consequences of the events before are becoming visible. Theo is ill from the drugs that had been used on his body in the previous book and Paul is looking for a fix. The first few chapters are a little bit of an info dump and the new storylines become clear.

Marguerite believes she and Paul are meant to be together, but moving through the universes makes her hesitate. It is super interesting to think about and it made me curious whether they were meant to be together or not.

I enjoyed going back the Russiaverse to see what happened after her first visit there. There are a lot of plot twists in this book and it really made me want to read the next one.
