This book feels very much like Ready Player One but has a lot of different things going for it. Marie Lu’s writing wasn’t as strong as in Legend, but it last longer in its strength than Legend.

I give Warcross by Marie Lu four out of five hearts because it was a strong novel, but it’s has a lot of hooks and holes where I thought there were small things I didn’t like.
Emika is a young woman stuck in a life where the money flies out faster than she can earn it after she ruined her life by hacking her school’s system. She does fall in love way too easily with Hideo and when she doesn’t even know him that well after being extremely cautious towards him.
I thought the story had a lot of potential and it was pretty surprising where it went with it. It kept me on the edge of my seat and made me want to finish reading this novel to see where it would end.
What I didn’t like was that the romance between Hideo and Emika, because there were little to no clue towards it when it happened. It really blew me off and it really pointed towards it only being a plot point to make it a reason for the end.
