Book Tag: Christmas Tag

Christmas Tag

So, Christmas Eve is tonight and because work was very boring this morning I found this tag on A Kernel of Nonsense and I wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Let’s move on to the questions, shall we?

What’s your favorite Christmas movie?

I have always loved A Nightmare before Christmas. I like the style and the dark humor, also I like Tim Burton a lot, so that helps too!

Do you open presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas Morning?

It depends on when my family has time to meet, this year we had to find a mind in time in eight different schedules! This year it is Christmas day at 5.30 p.m., but last year it was Christmas Eve. So it really depends. But since we are a Dutch family we did not always celabrate Christmas, because we also have Sinterklaas (which is basicly the same, just a different date and story) when we were little and later on my parents moved the present giving with 20 days.

Do you have a favorite Christmas memory??

YES! During my internship abroad my boyfriend called me saying he would not come until after Christmas due to a huge snowstorm grounding the planes. There were only flights inside the country from his airport. But on Christmas Morning I woke from a text telling me to open the front door and there was my boyfriend! He had made the airline change his flight from a direct flight, to one that went from where he was to a bigger city to the city I was in! And now I got HIM as a Christmas present.

Favorite Christmas food?

Hmm… Not really. There is nothing I would not eat on any other time of year.

Favorite Christmas gift?

Any book? My mum gave me a few years in a row one part of the Inheretance Cycle by Christopher Paolini in hardcover, instead of her normal paperbacks.

Favorite Christmas scent?

The scent of snow? When it is not pied on by dogs and bunnies? But it has been a while since we had a white Christmas here.

Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?

No, since it is not a holiday we have been celebrating for very long.

What tops your tree?

Nothing. I don’t have a tree since I am allergic to them and don’t like them mess. And I don’t care enough to get an alternative.

As a kid what was one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?

This gift was not for Christmas, but for Sinterklaas. I always asked for the biggest K’nex roller-coaster or LEGO box I could find. My parents probably never bought it for me because it was too expensive or so expensive they could only get me one present and then I would be jealous of my sisters. But that is me talking as an adult.

What is the best part about Christmas for you?

To be honest, I don’t get much from Christmas. To me it is a time forced to spend time with my family. To compensate for my negative feelings I usually buy myself the nicest book I can find.

I tag everyone who would like to do this tag, whether it is still tonight or maybe next year!

Again I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

For now, let books enrich your life!
