Book Releases December 2019

The last month of the year already, this year has flown by and I am actually amazed at how fast it went. In only 31 days 2019 will be over and 2020 will start. What are your favourite 2019 reads? Let me know in the comments.

Children of Virtue and Vengeance (Legacy of Orïsha #2) by Tomi Adeyemi
Scared Little Rabbits by A.V. Geiger
The Weight of a Soul by Elizabeth Tammi

Children of Virtue and Vengeance (Legacy of Orïsha #2) by Tomi Adeyemi (December 3)

Synopsis

After battling the impossible, Zélie and Amari have finally succeeded in bringing magic back to the land of Orïsha. But the ritual was more powerful than they could’ve imagined, reigniting the powers of not only the maji, but of nobles with magic ancestry, too.

Now, Zélie struggles to unite the maji in an Orïsha where the enemy is just as powerful as they are. But when the monarchy and military unite to keep control of Orïsha, Zélie must fight to secure Amari’s right to the throne and protect the new maji from the monarchy’s wrath.

With civil war looming on the horizon, Zélie finds herself at a breaking point: she must discover a way to bring the kingdom together or watch as Orïsha tears itself apart.

I know I wasn’t all too hyped about Children of Blood and Bone, but I am curious where Tomi Adeyemi is going to bring this story.

Scared Little Rabbits by A.V. Geiger (December 3)

Synopsis

We stand in a tight cluster, high above the lake. One-by-one, we made our way up the narrow trail from the edge of campus. Now, we wait shoulder to shoulder behind the police tape. Nineteen summer students.

All but one.

When Nora gets accepted into her dream summer program at the prestigious Winthrop Academy, she jumps at the chance to put her coding skills to use. But then a fellow student goes missing—and the tech trail for the crime leads back to Nora. With no one else to trust, Nora must race to uncover the truth and clear her name…or she might be the next to disappear.

Scared Little Rabbits is a title that draws you in, makes me curious for why someone is going to call a book like this. The synopsis sounds interesting and made me instantly want to read it.

The Weight of a Soul by Elizabeth Tammi (December 3)

Synopsis

When Lena’s younger sister Fressa is found dead, their whole Viking clan mourns—but it is Lena alone who never recovers. Fressa is the sister that should’ve lived, and Lena cannot rest until she knows exactly what killed Fressa and why—and how to bring her back. She strikes a dark deal with Hela, the Norse goddess of death, and begins a new double life to save her sister.

But as Lena gets closer to bringing Fressa back, she dredges up dangerous discoveries about her own family, and finds herself in the middle of a devastating plan to spur Ragnarök –a deadly chain of events leading to total world destruction.

Still, with her sister’s life in the balance, Lena is willing to risk it all. She’s willing to kill. How far will she go before the darkness consumes her?

I have really been into the mystery books these last few months and The Weight of a Soul sounds to fit just in that alley.
