We humans may not be powerful or magical
I loved the Serpent’s Secret. I just picked it up as a simple read between more serious books and I really enjoyed it.

I give The Serpent’s Secret by Sayantani DasGupta five out of five hearts because Sayantani weaved a great tale based on Bangali fairytales in great writing. She explains the points that us, Western readers might not know, but not in a dumb way.
The story is fun and fast paced (sometimes maybe a little to fast). It feels original, probably because it is based on fairytales we, Westerners, don’t know. But it is great. The story wraps at the end of the book even though it is part of series. I liked that very much.
The characters are very interesting. They act their age, which is not always the case with children’s books. Kiran is relatable and embarrassed by her parents. But she is caring and when they get kidnapped she wants to go after them. Tuntuni is a great character, but got annoying pretty fast.
