As a second part on the great Stonewylde series, Shadows at Stonewylde is a weird addition. But I still have no idea if I like it or not. I hope to find out what I think of this.

Synopsis
Something’s lying patiently in wait, until the time is right . . .
Thirteen years have passed since the events of Solstice At Stonewylde, and Stonewylde has flourished in a new, golden age. But now the shadows are gathering once more.
I enjoyed this book, but something felt off the whole time I was reading. I can not actually identify why. I liked reading about the characters I love so much and the new characters. But I also had an off feeling about some of the new characters.
Leveret is Yul’s younger sister, only a baby in the other three books. She is bullied by her older twin brothers and she wishes to become the new herbal woman of Stonewylde, just like Mother Haggy duirng the first 3 books. She is an interesting character but I do feel could have more of a journey during this book.
Now that I am writing down what I think of this book, I feel like I am understanding why I felt off about it. The whole story centers around the three crones trying to bring Magus back to Stonewylde (or whatever is left of him). But except for Yul and Sylvie fighting a lot of the time, there does not seem to happen much.
Of course there is the running of Stonewylde, which is barely making enough to make due and the problems that selling produce to the Outside world brings (both the product and the ethics of it). But it is not clear whether this is important to the story or not.
But this does not kill my need to read the fifth installment of the series. Even though I really don’t know what to think of this book.
