Book Review: The Anxiety Cure by Klaus Bernhardt

We call it The Anxiety Cure

Maybe people without anxiety issues believe that anxiety is as simple as Klaus describes in this book. But people with anxiety know it is not and this is one of the biggest flaws in this book.

I give The Anxiety Cure by Klaus Bernhardt three out of five hearts because there was some truth to what Klaus wrote in this book, but most of it just rubbed me the wrong way and were complete lies.

First of, I am someone with social anxiety and general anxiety, I know why I have these issues and I am working on them. But when a guy comes around and says that there are basically only four reasons why people have anxiety, one of which is drug use and non of them is my reasons I have to go and ask who this guy is to think that he has the cure to anxiety. Yes he has the solutions to anxiety caused by his four described reasons. But he still leaves out the biggest group of people with anxiety issues, because I am not the only one.

There was some new information for me that I am using right now to help myself. But most of the exercises in this book will help you with general anxiety that is trying to establish itself in you body, but when you have been running around with it for awhile already, this book is not the solution.

  1. I agree with your review. The book has rubbed my up the wrong way a number of times, especially where Klaus claims that reducing anxiety can be cured by simply changing an external situation (eg relationship, job, friendship) that is causing the anxiety. I think it’s pretty irresponsible to make such sweeping statements. I also agree however that there are also some potentially helpful perspectives on anxiety, and I am going to try and employ the ‘brain re-wiring’ techniques in the book.
