THE FIRST GIRL BORN IN FIFTY YEARS.
THEY CALLED HER EVE . . .

All her life Eve has been kept away from the opposite sex. Kept from the truth of her past.

But at sixteen it’s time for Eve to face her destiny. Three potential males have been selected for her. The future of humanity is in her hands. She’s always accepted her fate.

Until she meets Bram.

Eve wants control over her life. She wants freedom.

But how do you choose between love and the future of the human race?

I give Eve of Man by Giovanna & Tom Fletcher three out of five hearts because it was an intriguing story and great world, it just had its downs and couldn’t keep me focused.

Eve has been protected all her life because she is the first girl born in fifty years. The only things she knows is the Mothers and Holly, a hologram friend for her to bond with. She knows why this is and she is okay with it. She is about to meet three potential future mates and it goes very wrong from the start. The first can’t even handle the pressure and the second one tries to kill her, killing one of the Mothers instead. She doesn’t even want to meet the third when the Mothers decide that a relationship is not necessary and they can make do with her eggs and belly.

Bram is one of the kids playing Holly. He likes Eve and feels for her and the restrictions placed on her. But based on his eyes she falls for him the first time they actually meet face to face. How? I mean, the fact that she recognised him is already an icky point, but falling for him this fast is impossible. She doesn’t even know what love is, she has never seen the relationship between man and woman.

This romance is doomed! But now the novel goes on with it. Why? This novel had so much potential, I loved the premise and the world and then this happened. Literally up until this point I was curious and happy with this book.

But next to this romance they also add another plotline of genetically changed babies to get female babies. I don’t know which was supposed to be the main one because both get so much attention that I got lost in what was a sideline and which wasn’t. I did like this plotline because it follows pretty much from the premise, but it is confusing when the romance storyline is given as much attention.

I will reread this when the second novel comes out because I did like it and it made me curious about what more is going to happen. It is well written, easy to read and action set.
