On My Shelf is an original feature inspired by the On My Shelf tag. Each time I will take 5 random books from my shelves and tell you about them (how I got them, what I think of them etc.), and if they are in Dutch I will write a small synopsis of them.
I will roll some dice to find out which books it will be.
The Reptile Room (A Series of Unfortunate Events #2) by Lemony Snicket
After buying an awesome edition of The Bad Beginnings I found this one, The Reptile Room, at a secondhand bookstore and it was the same edition. So I needed to have it. I really enjoy reading the bad adventures the three orphans go on. I think these books should be standard for every kid.
Queste (Septimus Heap #4) by Angie Sage
After finishing the rest of the series I bought Queste, I think it was actually when it came out. I do not remember much about the buy and the actual story because it has been so very long and it was not very memorable.
The Bone Season (The Bone Season #1) by Samantha Shannon
I bought myself The Bone Season when my best friend recommended it to me, after she had gotten it herself. I like the synopsis and what I have read of it. But I did not get very far in the few evenings I went babysitting and never picked it up again.
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Harry Potter #3) by J.K. Rowling
I do not remember how I got The Prisoner of Azkaban in Dutch. It might have been a present from my parents. I only have one other copy of this book, from my hardcover collection. I like the story, sometimes I wonder what would have happened if there had not been a timeturner and how it is always there are no mentions of certain objects until you need one? I think that is the biggest flaw in this book.
Confessions of a Shopaholic (Shopaholic #1) by Sophie Kinsella
I got Confessions of a Shopaholic just after the movies release. I think it is even the movie tie-in. I hate those covers. But the story is enjoyable, but not very remarkable. There are better books with humor in them.
For now, let books enrich your life!
