On My Shelf #24

On My Shelf is an original feature inspired by the On My Shelf tag. Each time I will take 5 random books from my shelves and tell you about them (how I got them, what I think of them etc.), and if they are in Dutch I will write a small synopsis of them.
I will roll some dice to find out which books it will be.

Spiegelkinderen by Kim Houtkamp

Inconspicuous Melissa is fine with her life as a high school student. One day her twinsister approaches her with a plan. During the night they would go to the cemetery to look at ‘magical’ statue. She says yes because of the enthusiasm of the hansom Kevin.

Together with their friends they go to the old church of Gemert that night. It is an enormous shock when the statue turns out to be magical and sends them to a sunlit field. Not knowing to them, their entrance did not go unnoticed and is unwanted.

During their quest to get home, the five teens discover an magical world, filled with fantasy creatures. They make new friends, enemies and find out what their visit brings to the world.

I bought this book because it is from my best friend. I have not read it yet because I only got it two weeks ago. I am very curious to see what she has come up with.

The Heir (The Selection #4) by Kiera Cass

I am sucker for this series. I have a love/hate relationship with it, so I am wondering why I got it, but I am also curious on what is going to happen. I have heard the last two books are not as well done as the first three, but since I did not like them in a way, what is there to lose? I have not read it yet, but maybe soon?

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by J.K. Rowling

I have been a Harry Potter fan from the second book. So when I heard there was an eight book coming, I was very happy and pleased. I will read this one as soon as possible.

Divergent (Divergent #1) by Veronica Roth

I bought this book when I finished reading The Hunger Games series and heard loads of good things about it. I think the world is pretty original and like reading it. There are some flaws, but I did not mind them. After rereading it, I even noticed things I only figured out while reading the second and or third book.

The Day Watch (Watch #2) by Sergei Lukyanenko

I bought this book because I thought the synopsis of the book sounded great. But after I got home, I found out it was the second part of a series. So I wanted to get the first book, but never found it. So I have never read this book actually. I am even thinking of just giving it away or something.

For now, let books enrich your life!
